Happy Family: Things to Do in Orlando [Summer Edition]

Summer time is here and that usually means the kids are home and you wonder what can I do to make sure they are active an healthy. Well here are 10  budget friendly ideas to keep your kids active this summer. This list is dedicated to Orlando locals or tourist who dont want to do the typical tourist thing.

Parks

Never underestimate the value of having land dedicated to play. If your family is too familiar with your neighborhood park, make it an adventure to find new parks and rate them. Make sure to try every aspect of the park before you try a new one such as using the basketball court, playing tennis or even have a set up a picnic and invite extended family, neighbors or your child’s close friends. Something I often enjoy is a mini Olympics where 5 games are set and the winner gets bragging rights. There’s space for your creativity to flourish if you are willingly to use the space.

Church camps

Most churches offer a free Vacation Bible School (VBS) that goes on for a week, look at your nearest church to see if they have one going on or ask anyone you may know and they can recommend you to a church they know.

Movies

Summer usually brings box office hits because there’s quite like experiencing a film with others. If money is a concern most theaters have discounted mantiee services, special cheap tickets on select days; and Orlando even have a discounted theater where tickets are $1 or $1.50 from movies released 3 months ago called the Picture Show. If you really prefer privacy and more control over your environment host a movie day/night at your house and invite anyone over, ask for $3 to contribute to pizza or paid online streaming.

Pool!

Heat means get in the water, find a local neighborhood pool or borrow from your friend and invite the crew over to take  swim. You can even buy some pool accessories or water games to give your family something extra to do. If not, making a race out of how many laps someone can do or have each member lead in water exercise. By doing this you can expect to be at the pool for at least a couple of hours and completely tired for the rest of the day.

Entertainment Centers

If you are willingly to spend at least $40 head over to your local bowling, roller skating ring or arcade.  Whether you like to sit back and enjoy the show or prove to everyone that you are the greatest these establishments are made to have something for everyone.

They offer an discounted ticket if you have an EBT card, or unlimited access if you are a member. The science center has alot to explore for child K-MS, if the high school student have younger siblings this is a perfect place to allow them to teach while the others learn and you can be a little more hands off.

Downtown Winter Garden

Its a great place to get on West Orange Trail either to walk or bike and enjoy a family friendly scene. If you are willingly to get wet there is an outdoor splash pad too.

If you wait till 6P, Universal Citywalk has free parking and there’s alot to see. Explore the various specialty shops and lounge near the famous globe as you experience the high energy of tourist and locals alike.
